In Brief

The Olympics. Its all over me like a cheap suit. Yet all we heard in the lead up to these games was how China has been acting towards western media in terms of exposure and openness. Newspapers seem to applaud the communist state for 'moving forward', that the games are proof that they have 'progressed', the praise like that of an adult congratulating a mentally disabled child on completing a task capable of a someone half his age. Yet perhaps this is how the West wishes to view these reds, as they are now not under the bed, but in full view of all those who would critique them and their attitudes towards a former adversary. Of course Bush, being the man with nothing to lose in terms of career and indeed dignity, has no restraint in his speech against the host nation, crying wolf at every given opportunity. Although, as my mother used to say, blame the parents not the child. An odd phrase considering she's my mother.
Still a week and a bit left so I'm going to enjoy this suit while it lasts.
